Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
-
The submission hasn't been published before, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
-
The submission file is in Microsoft Word. All attachments must be included in the correct format. DSN will not convert your files or reorganize incorrectly coordinated submissions. The preferred format for manuscript submissions is a Microsoft Word file with figures and tables embedded in the designated area, as described in our instruction page for authors.
-
Confirm that all contributing authors of the manuscript have read and authorized the submission of the article, all included content is true and correct to the best of your knowledge, and that you have ethical approval for any human or animal experimentation (for more information, see our Instructions for Authors).
- The text is spaced 1.15; uses a 12-point font, Times New Roman; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which are found in About the Journal.
If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
- Upload your cover letter in the "Supplementary Files" section of the submission process. The cover letter should explain the importance of your topic, its relevance to our journal's primary focus, and any special circumstances. In the cover letter, please specify that you can pay the publication fee ($295.00 USD) and provide the names and contact information of 5 qualified reviewers.
-
Provide a list of the correct email addresses for all manuscript authors. This contact information is needed to confirm that you've received, accepted, and published information from all contributors.
-
Please read our instructions for authors and verify that all information has been appropriately included in your manuscript. Incorrect information or formatting will result in a substantial delay in publishing time.
Article Processing Fee Policy
Upon receiving an official acceptance letter, following editorial approval and reviewers’ recommendations, authors must complete the article processing charge (APC) payment within 10 calendar days. Once the editorial office has issued an acceptance letter along with reviewer comments, no further negotiations regarding fees, discounts, or waivers will be considered. This policy ensures transparency and fairness throughout the editorial and review process. This requirement applies to all authors, including the corresponding and submitting author, who are jointly responsible for ensuring timely payment.
Late Payment Policy: Additional administrative charges may apply if payment is not received within the specified timeframe. Such delays may also impact the article’s publication schedule.
Potential Consequences of Delayed Payment:
- Delayed Publication: Failure to pay the APC on time may postpone the article’s online publication.
- Article Retraction: The journal reserves the right to retract accepted articles if the APC remains unpaid.
- Restrictions on Future Submissions: Authors who consistently fail to meet payment deadlines may be restricted from future submissions.
Discounts and Waivers: Authors experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to contact the editorial office at [email protected] before article submission to request a fee waiver or discount. Requests will be reviewed case-by-case, with decisions typically made within three business days. The submission of final publication materials may be paused until payment terms are finalized.
All applicable APCs must be paid in full before publication.
